Where am I Telling Stories and Jokes and Talks with Folks this Month?

The month of May is here! in between working, learning, and taking care of family life, I get to do what I enjoy; telling stories and jokes and talking to folks. Where will it all take place? Here’s the listing for the month of May:

3 May 2024 – I’ll be in Washington, DC at the District 36 Toastmasters Conference. I’ll be serving as the model speaker. For those not familiar with Toastmasters, there is a contest where people are graded on how they give feedback to others. I’ll be the person giving a speech for others to grade. 4 May 2024 – I’ll be in Falls Church, VA telling a story for the show “Rebel Alliance: Stories of Empires and Rebellion”. Can’t be sure that tickets are still available, but go to the link and see. And may the force be with you! https://www.bettersaidthandone.com/storytelling-shows/

13-15 May 2024 – I’ll be in Henrico, VA helping out behind the scenes with the Fire Ground Commander Conference. This is a phenomenal firefighter conference that is in its 7th year. There is a long track record of bringing in the top fire service leaders to the Virginia area. There is still time to get tickets for 1, 2, and 3-day attendance. 20-21 May 2020 – I’ll be in Hampton Roads, Virginia for the Hampton Roads Leadership Summit. I’ll be one of the speakers for the event. There, I will give a 3-hr workshop on using storytelling as a tool for better communication. My workshop will get paired with other presenters to give attendees what they need to be the leaders they are striving to be. When I get more info about registration, I’ll add it to my site

After years of being an instructor in the military and the and the fire service, I realized I needed to improve my delivery. My students needed me to improve delivery. But how do I improve my delivery? Simple. I finally took a member of Toastmasters up on the invitation to come to a meeting. It wasn't long until I joined. Along the way of improving my skills at delivering a message, I came to understand that of all the ways to get a point across, telling stories is the best way to get it done. Around this time, another friend from Toastmasters told me about The Moth monthly story telling shows. What better way to test out my theories on storytelling. It's in my travels there to the shows that I found more and more shows, and classes, and events centered around storytelling. Despite how many people know about the storytelling world, not many people know about the storytelling world. So now, I'm out to tell the world about storytelling.
